Academic

The academic exam assesses whether the candidate's English proficiency is sufficient for academic environments and higher education. The exam is suitable for all candidates, regardless of their field of study.

Listening (30 minutes)

You will have 10 minutes to copy your answers onto the answer sheet.

• 4 monologues and dialogues

Reading (60 minutes)

• 3 paragraphs with questions
• Types of text range from descriptive to factual, from informal to analytical
• The test will also include non-textual content such as graphs, charts, or illustrations
• Text is taken from real publications (e.g., books, journals and newspapers)

Writing (60 minutes)

• A 150-word essay that requires the candidate to analyze, describe or explain a table, graph, bar chart or diagram
• A 250-word argumentative essay

Speaking (11 to 14 minutes)

• Face-to-face format

• Includes a few short questions, elaboration on a familiar topic, and discussion of the topic

General

• A 150-word letter
• A 250-word argumentative essay

Speaking (11 to 14 minutes)

• One-on-one format

• Includes a few short questions, elaboration on a familiar topic, and discussion of the topic
